Q: What is Verified by Visa (VbV) and how does it work?
Verified by Visa helps to protect your Visa cards against unauthorized use on the internet. It verifies your identity when you use a visa card for an online purchase at a participating merchant. Once you create and activate a password, you will be asked to enter your password each time you initiate an online purchase at a participating Verified by Visa merchant.
Q: How do I activate Verified by Visa?
UARK Visa cardholders may activate VbV in a number of ways:
- Participating merchants that display “Activation Anytime” banner or buttons that enable cardholders to activate their Visa card by clicking on the banner or button.
Or while your shopping online.
Q: Why should I register for Verified by Visa?
Verified by Visa provides an extra level of protection for online shopping. Visa always protects it’s cardholders against unauthorized use, but Verified by Visa helps to prevent unauthorized online card use before it happens.
Q: Does Verified by Visa cost me anything?
No. Verified by Visa is a FREE service, offered by Visa in conjunction with UARK Federal Credit Union and participating merchants.
Q: Can I use Verified by Visa from any computer?
Yes. One of the great advantages of VbV is that it can work with just about any PC with internet connection.
Q: Do I need any special software to use Verified by Visa?
Q: Do I use Verified by Visa on all internet sites?
You will only be presented with a Verified by Visa page when you are shopping online with participating merchants.
Q: What if I choose to not participate in Verified by Visa?
By choosing not to register for Verified by Visa, participating merchants will not allow you to make online purchases. You will be required to shop by phone when available.
Q: Why must I supply personal information during registration?
The personal information you supply is used as a security measure to make sure you are the real card holder. The information you supply is verified against the data stored in the cardholder file.
Q: Does an existing cardholder need to apply for a new card to use Verified by Visa?
No. All existing UARK Federal Credit Union Visa credit and debit cards are enabled for Verified by Visa.
Q: Do I have to register my Visa if my joint cardholder already did?
Yes. Both cardholders on the account must be registered separately and each card holder must successfully complete registration, with each having a unique name and password, in order to begin utilizing Verified by Visa.
Q: How will I know if my registration is successful?
You will be notified that the registration is complete and that you can begin to shop utilizing the Verified by Visa service.
Q: What if I forgot my password?
Go to www.visa.com/verified and click “Forgot your password” link. Follow the instructions and select a new password. You will be able to use your new password immediately.
Q: What if I need to change/update my password or my personal information?
If your information changes or you need to update/reset your password, you will need to re-enroll in Verified by Visa. Use your new account information to create a new password. UARK Federal Credit Union representatives CAN NOT re-set passwords. To update your information or change your password, visit www.visa.com/verified.
Q: Can I use my Debit card pin as the password?
No. You must select a password that is between 6-10 character and that is alpha-numeric (at least one letter and one number)
Q: What happens when my Visa card expires?
You will be issued a new card. As long as the account number is the same, there is no reason to re-register with Verified by Visa. Your account is still valid.
Q: Why can’t I use Verified by Visa for telephone transactions?
Verified by Visa is a program created to increase ONLINE security. When a member keys in their card number during the online check-out process with a participating merchant, their identity is recognized the card number and the password confirmed through Visa.
Q: What is the signature panel code?
The Signature Panel code is the last three digits printed on the signature area on the back of your Visa card. Also known as the Cardholder Verification Value or CVV2. These three numbers help ensure that the physical card is in the cardholder’s possession while shopping online or by phone, helping prevent unauthorized or fraudulent use.
Q: What is a Personal Assurance Message?
As an added security measure, cardholders are asked to supply a Personal Assurance Message. You will see this message at the time of purchase when your password is requested. This is an added guarantee that you are actually dealing with a participating merchant and not an impersonator.
Q: What are the terms and conditions for Verified by Visa?
Prior to completing the registration process, the cardholder will be asked to accept the terms and conditions for use of this service. Upon clicking the checkbox on the screen, the terms and conditions of Verified by Visa will be viewable. Terms and conditions provide the cardholder with participation rules.
Q: What should I do if the system is unable to verify my identity?
